Anatomy for Acupuncture
"The ability to be able to
see into the body and bring the inner structure to life has a WOW factor that
will appeal to anyone fascinated by the human body. As a teaching and learning
aid for anatomy, it is second to none.
A detailed and interactive 3D anatomy
resource aimed at both the acupuncture practitioner and student.

For the first time you can see the
positions of 88 of the most commonly used acupuncture points in 3D with detailed
anatomy of their needle passage, plus a further 324 named needle points that can
be highlighted in their correct position.
All 3D models include all musculoskeletal and vascular anatomy with descriptive
text. Anatomical alerts are provided for points where damage would be caused by
incorrect direction or depth of insertion. Many 3D views are also available in
cross section.
Also included are the most clinically important myofascial trigger points - and
for the first time in any publication - their anatomical and clinical
correspondence to acupuncture points are shown and discussed.
Further content allows you to view and compare the 14 main acupuncture
meridians, with points, with 42 myofascial referred pain patterns of trigger
points.
Benefits
- More dynamic and memorable than a chart or
book

Reviews
"Imagine you had X-ray eyes and before you needled an acupuncture point you
could see right into the body and check the underlying anatomy.
Now imagine you had the power to visually strip away layers, rotating the body
if necessary, so that you could see between and behind muscles and find where
the veins, arteries and nerves run. How about your own personal little medical
alert to tell you if you are in an area where incorrect direction or depth of
needle insertion could do damage?
Well the next best thing to x-ray eyes has just come on the market, and be
warned: it is seriously addictive. The Anatomy for Acupuncture DVD-ROM is a new
product from Visu Medical, best known for their 3D Human Anatomy software.
It took 13 years for the team there to fully develop the first complete and
medically accurate, 3D computer-animated model of the human anatomy. And it
shows. They have managed to combine truly outstanding artwork with advanced
digital technology and the result is an award-winning product that has gained
worldwide acclaim as an outstanding educational resource.
The ability to be able to see into the body and bring the inner structure to
life has a WOW factor that will appeal to anyone fascinated by the human body.
As a teaching and learning aid for anatomy, it is second to none.
Now they have launched a version for acupuncturists that has an extra dimension.
There is a built-in point location chart and 88 of the points come with extra
text. You get advice about the point position, the needle track, the target
structure, extra notes where appropriate about depth and alternative angles for
needling, and clear warnings about risks. The visuals that link to these points
are stunning.
As with other products, you can view the whole of the neurovascular and
musculoskeletal systems. You can rotate the body, strip away layers, view cross
sections, and look at referred pain patterns. You can even do all of this with
many of the acupuncture points shown with needles in place. In addition, the
most clinically important myofascial trigger points are included and, for the
first time in any publication, their anatomical and clinical correspondence to
acupuncture points are shown and discussed."
